Summer 2014 Travels

Dear Friends:

It's been a while since I've written... and here we are leading up to the first day of August already. Where did June & July go? It's been an incredibly busy summer traveling Europe and the Middle East to say the least. I've been so fortunate to be able to spend as much time traveling and visiting many farms, attending horse shows, and seeing some pretty incredible horses. France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, to name but a few of the countries I had the pleasure of seeing. Travel sure does teach us so much.

The Menton Show was amazing, the quality was an unbelievably all-time-high. The show, nestled on the beach along the Côte d'Azur, often known in English as the French Riviera, is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, also including the sovereign state of Monaco. It was truly a magical weekend surrounded by beautiful horses and wonderful friends.

Towards the end of July, I flew to the United Arab Emirates and welcomed the beautiful horses I sold to my friends at the Al Firas Stud in Abu Dhabi, while it was a tad hot (a steamy 52 degrees Celsius), the horses arrived safely and Mr. Firas was so incredibly satisfied. Once the horses settled into the quarantine, we toured around the Emirates. We had the pleasure of visiting the really exceptional Al Zobair Stud owned by HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani where we were graciously welcomed by farm manager Mr. Michael Van den Elsken - the horses were absolutely spectacular and equally was the beautiful and perfectly landscaped farm. Later we ventured to the Al Hawajer Stud owned by Dr. Ghanem al Hajri and expertly managed by Rebecca Wenden. It was such a treat to walk the stables and pastures with Rebecca and see the program Dr. Ghanem is building, not to mention the amazing farm nestled on the outskirts of Sharjah.

Back home, the pregnant mares are all doing well, happy and content. We are excited for foaling season next year. Last Luv (by Psymadre) is in foal for April 2015 to Echo Domani (by Ajman Moniscione) for the Region 12 Spotlight Futurity Auction foal. Psambucca (by Psymadre) is in foal for March 2015 to Stival (*Gazal Al Shaqab) for the Scottsdale Signature and Region 12 Spotlight Futurity and True Harmony (by True Colours) is in foal for early March 2015 to Scottsdale Champion Destinyed Valentino (by DA Valentino) for the Scottsdale Signature Auction foal. Our sincerest thanks to Dr. Nathaniel Newton for his excellence in equine reproduction and first-class broodmare management. We are so grateful to him.

All in all, it's been a very productive (a little tiring too!) past few months, but I wouldn't trade it for a second. A quick trip to Scottsdale and Santa Ynez to see some horses, some rest and little relaxation, and then it's back to Europe I go... seems there is always something to do.

Until next time, my best to you and yours!

Braden
